Arthur L. Haynes January 29, 1927 - May 16, 2022

Arthur Lee “Art” Haynes of Mt. Healthy, Ohio went peacefully to be with his Lord on May 16, 2022, after suffering complications from a heart attack. Art was born in Greenwood, Kentucky to Joseph Lafayette “Fate” Haynes and Gertrude Alice “Gertie” Haynes (nee Hyden) on January 29, 1927, along with his twin sister Anna Lee.

Art left McCreary County High School and joined the Navy at 17 to fight in WW II. He served aboard the destroyer USS Herndon in both the Atlantic and Pacific until the war ended. Art returned to complete his high school education and afterwards matriculated to Berea College. After graduation, Art went to work for General Electric Company in Evendale, Ohio and retired from GE with 37 years of service. While working at GE, Art took night classes at Xavier University receiving his MBA.

Art met the love of his life Anna at the Stearns Kentucky County Fair in 1946. The two married in 1950, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. Art and family were founding members of Brentwood Baptist Church that later merged with Wyoming Baptist Church. Art was very active with Freemasons becoming the Master of the Wyoming Lodge.

Art’s hobbies included photography, boating, camping, and flying. He joined GE’s flight club obtaining his private pilot’s license. He and a friend built a two-seat KR2 aircraft in the basement.

Art is preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna; his youngest son Gregory Scott Haynes; by his parents Fate & Gertie; and his five sisters & five brothers.

He is survived by his son Glenn A. Haynes (Brenda) & daughter Rebecca “Becky” A. Fetzer (Bruce); his grandchildren Brenton Haynes (Amy), Beth Haynes, Ryan Haynes, Justin Haynes (Michelle), Jennifer Fetzer, & Kevin Fetzer; his great-grandchildren Thomas Haynes, Melissa Morris (Ashtin), Hunter Haynes, & Lillian Haynes; his great-great-grandchildren Jasper Morris, Tobias Morris, & Scarlett Morris; and many beloved nieces, nephews & their families.

A visitation for Art will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 12:30pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (2155 Compton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231; follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Following the funeral, Art will be laid to rest by his wife Anna in the Masonic Garden.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Hospital, or a charity of your choice.

A visitation for Art will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 12:30pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (2155 Compton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231; follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Following the funeral, Art will be laid to rest by his wife Anna in the Masonic Garden.
