Mary Jane Carlisle was born July 29, 1932 to the late Ralph Johnson and Lubirdie Brewster Johnson in Meridian Mississippi. She was also preceded in death by her husband B.C. Carlisle, brother J.C. Johnson, brother-in-laws; Jimmy Fox, Wright, Felix and Homer Kelly, and Charlie Woods.

Mary confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Yantley, Alabama. She later joined First Liberty Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Floyd Rosser. She became a devoted member and soon joined the Senior Choir. As a member she formed a close relationship with a elderly member known as Sis. Baker. Sis. Baker soon became a Mother figure to her. She attended First Liberty faithfully until her health declined. She truly was a child of God.

Upon graduating from Stephenson High School, she traveled north to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she met the love of her life B.C. Carlisle they were united in Holy Matrimony, and from their union two sons were born Eddie and Ben.

Mary began her career as a valued and dedicated Domestic Worker who formed close relationships with the families she worked for. Later in her career she became employed with the first Biggs Supermarket in the Greater Cincinnati area in Forest Park OH. While being interviewed for the job her employer was so impressed by her cheerful personality that he placed her in a position greeting customers that entered the store. Highlights of her employment at Biggs was when she was introduced to the various TV personalities who visited the store to promote products that were sold in the store. Mary remained a dedicated and valued employee of Biggs until her retirement.

Her hobbies included Bingo, Crocheting, and solving scramble and crossword puzzles. She also loved to travel down south to visit her family and loved ones.

Mary leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons; Eddie (Sarah) and Ben (Chanel); her only sister Catherine Fox of Meridian Ms., Grandchildren Michael, Jerrica, and Raven; Great grandchildren; Darnella and Darrel, Brother-in-laws Bishop D.C. Carlisle (Evinese), and Eddie Kelly (Nancy) all from Lakewood, New Jersey, Jimmy Kelly and Eugene Kelly of Meridian Ms., sisters-in-law, Sharon Kelly, Annie Woods of Decatur, Illinois; Florine Carlisle (Richard) and Verda Jack both of Meridian Ms., nieces; Jessie M. Bryant of Jacksonville Ak; Birtha J. Finley, Sherry Harbin, and Setabitha (James) Hunt of Meridian Ms., along with a host of Great Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and friends.
