John “Jack” Frost July 9, 1937 - November 7, 2020

John “Jack” Frost

Mr. John “Jack” Frost Jr.,  age 83, passed away on November 7, 2020.

John was born in Cincinnati, OH to John and Violet (Cook) Frost.

John is survived by his daughter Jennifer Frost-Cornish, granddaughters; Misti and Mandi Cornish. Also survived by his brothers; James (Donna) Frost and Jerry (Marie) Shepherd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Michael Cornish.

Jack was a musician and a music teacher for many years, he taught many students how to play the piano and accordion. He enjoyed playing German music and played for several restaurants including Forest View Gardens, Mecklinberg Gardens & Hofbrahaus. Something Jack really loved was putting the accordion band together. He was encouraged by the Oktoberfest committee to get a large group together to play German music for the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati and Jack was able to have previous students come back to play in the large band with him.  Jack arranged for his accordion band to perform at numerous events and fairs such as the Ohio State Fair and to play a German feature with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra at Music Hall with Erich Kunzel.

The Rossi Accordion Studio sent many of his students to ATG competitions and many of them won awards and ribbons for their hard work. He was respected and thought of fondly by countless students and their parents. Jack was the bind that held the accordion family together. One previous student said “He was patient, caring, funny. He had to have patience and a sense of humor to be a music teacher to the young and the teenagers! And he really did care about us as kids-not just students.” Another said “Jack was a special kind of friend, He taught me music which will never end. Classical, Pop, Rock tunes and more, there wasn’t a genre we didn’t explore. He always wanted us to do our best, especially performing at Oktoberfest. Jack was always thoughtful and fun, making us laugh and passing it on. Mindful of others, he taught us to share, teaching us music to show that we care.”

Jack was a dear, kind soul who gladly shared his music! He took me under his wing & taught me German & Irish songs, & I had the thrill of performing many of them on guitar in gigs we did together. He knew how to charm an audience, & he spread joy. He will be sorely missed; German & Irish music will always remind me of my dear friend! My heartfelt condolences to the family.
