Harry F. Mulloy, beloved husband of Lois Mulloy (nee Jones), passed away at home in the early hours of June 18, 2020 at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his family and loyal dog Daisy. Loving father of Christina Mulloy-Groh (David), Michael Mulloy, and Cynthia Mrla (Michael). Cherished grandfather of Indra Birdsill-Mrla, Nohealani Mulloy, Callie Mrla, Abigail Groh and Kai Mrla. Loved brother of (the late) Edward Mulloy (Patricia), Kathleen Tamarkin (Ivan), James Mulloy (Mary), and Sheila Lauck (Thomas). Also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and dear DAV brothers.

He grew up in Mount Healthy, enjoying football and swimming in his youth and attending Roger Bacon High School. He continued his education at Thomas Moore College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education

Harry proudly served his country in Vietnam on the 10th Cavalry, 4th Infantry Squadron where he was critically wounded and honorably discharged to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. He spent over a year recovering from his injuries sustained in battle; earning him the nicknames of Shrapnel and One-Eyed. He received the Purple Heart for his bravery in action.

After the war he returned to Xavier University to earn a master’s degree in psychology; eventually working as a social worker and drug counselor. His hobby and natural enjoyment of electronics and tinkering with mechanics eventually lead him to his work as an electronic technician for the Post Office. He served as a union steward for many years and was passionate about fighting for the underdog. He was essential in the technological transition from hand-sorting the mail to mechanical distribution and retired after more than 20 years.

After retirement, he became actively involved with the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 115 where he developed strong bonds and lifelong friendship with his brotherhood of fellow veterans. He focused on community outreach and support for his veterans in need.

He enjoyed travel; often traveling thousands of miles to spend time with his children, grandchildren and extended family. There wasn’t a wedding, funeral or family reunion that he did not attend.

In his later years he endured numerous medical diagnoses that he courageously battled to his last breath. His wife was always by his side; becoming his fiercest advocate and fellow warrior in his battle for his health and wellness.

Harry was a storyteller, a debater and a comedian. He was loved and cherished by a large family and an extensive network of friends and fellow veterans. His loyalty, kindness and sense of humor will carry on through all of those who loved him.

Visitation will be Tuesday June 23rd from 5 pm-7 pm at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 5527 Cheviot Rd (45247). Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday June 24th at 10 am at St James Church, 3565 Hubble Rd (45247). Military burial service to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Rd (45231). Social distancing and facemasks recommended. Memorial Contributions requested to Disabled American Veterans or the Purple Heart Foundation.
