Evelyn H. Pollock
Evelyn Helene “Evie” Pollock, age 89, of Cincinnati, OH died December 23, 2020 at Wellspring nursing home. Evie was the only child of Richard and Hedwig Wiedmann from Germany, who emigrated to the US in 1926.
She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 61 years, Robert W. Pollock. Left to honor and remember Evie are her two children, Jeffrey R. Pollock and Kimberley A. Pollock and Kim’s partner, Wendy L. Turner.
From her birth in 1931 to her death at the Christmas season, Evie nourished people around her with unconditional love, music, and a welcoming smile. At a young age, Evie started playing the piano. In 1953, she received a Bachelor’s in fine arts from The Ohio State University. After graduating, she taught piano to many adoring students, became a piano competition judge at Miami University of Ohio and later worked as the Music Secretary for the minister of music at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Compton Road. She was a longtime patron of the Cincinnati Symphony and Opera and introduced her family to the joy of classical music.
Always beautiful, Evie was Homecoming Queen at Hughes High School and her bridal portrait won a photography competition. Evie was passionate about animals and loyally supported the ASPCA and Humane Society. Evie lived a full life, enjoyed simple pleasures, and leaves many friends and family behind who are grateful for her abiding love and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held for immediate family in the spring. Donations in Evie’s memory can be made on the ASPCA Memorial Gifts page. https://secure.aspca.org/
