On Thursday, October 29, 2020, Cloranne Rebecca Bates has gained her wings to go home to be with the Lord. Cloranne was born March 29, 1930 to the parents of Charles Gilbert and Susan W. Jackson in Hodges South Carolina. Cloranne had seven siblings, six brothers, and one sister.
Cloranne had a general education and soon after her education she became a successful Midwife, this was her passion and what she loved to do. Cloranne loved to cook and grow fresh vegetables in her garden. When the holidays rolled around without a doubt everyone knew where they were going…(grandma) house. Cloranne had the personality to melt anyone’s heart, she had a heart of gold, and to know her was to absolutely love her. She loved to sit at her dining room table and play solitaire and hum her tunes. On Fridays it was never a dull moment at Ann’s house, it went from frying her famous fried chicken to gambling and drinking her favorite beverages which was her beer (Milwaukee’s Best). At times she would go out to the black beer lot just for kicks. She always spoke what was on her mind and rather it was the truth or not, you take or leave it, because either way she did not care. She would get up on early on Saturday Mornings and head to Findlay market to get her collard greens, rind on bacon, and famous baseball cookies, which she hid from the family. She used to love going on her late-night excursion with her boo (Mr. Pete) to go to White Castle and get her double cheeseburgers and black coffee, while listening to the Reds on the radio. She loved listen to her blues, and her R and B. Cloranne didn’t show any differences with anyone that came her way; she loved everyone, and everyone loved her, her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to lay their head or just wanted to talk. She gave the best advice; now rather you chose to listen and take the advice; that was on you. Cloranne was truly a woman of god and the lord has accepted this golden angel with open arms.
