Joan Lee Thorpe
Mrs. Joan Thorpe, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022.
Joan was born in Chicago, IL to Harry and Mildred Jacoby. She married George Thorpe on June 27, 1959, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Joan worked at the Hamilton County Developmental Disability Services, at the Breyer School, as a teachers aid for over 22 years. She had a passion for supporting those with special needs and was also an avid supporter of the Special Olympics where she volunteered for many years. She also enjoyed traveling, golf, coaching girls softball and playing on the ladies team.
Joan is survived by her sons, Kevin (Linda) Thorpe, Greg Thorpe, grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) Thorpe II, Ashley Thorpe, Kyle (Elizabeth) Thorpe and Kaylee Thorpe, great-granddaughter, Cecilia Thorpe, sister, Audrey Spencer and many extended relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Jean Hauck and sister, Nancy Jacoby.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM when the services begin at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road 45231. Once on the grounds of the memorial park, turn left and follow the light blue line to the funeral home. Joan and George will be reunited and laid to rest together, at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
