Today we celebrate the life of Thelma Loretta Collier, also known as Bean-o or Ms. “T”. She is the daughter of Priscilla Davis Elder and George Elder. Thelma was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of seven. Thelma attended Bloom Junior High School and matriculated from the old Woodward High School where she ran track and played tennis.  She grew up in Laurel Homes of downtown Cincinnati and later moved to Madisonville where she lived for 48 years and was known as the “neighborhood mom”.  Thelma was raised in Union Baptist Church where she gave her life over to Christ at a young age.  Growing up, she was very involved in a lot of social clubs and an avid bowler.  Thelma had a beautiful singing voice and recorded a couple of 45 records. She was known for her fashion and did a lot of modeling engagements with her best friend, Jean Perry.  She would go on to work at RCA for twenty seven years as an assembly worker where she led their union. Thelma worked at Powell Valves as a clerk and then for the Totes Isotoner Corporation until she retired. Everyone who knew Thelma understood that she adored her children and prioritized her family, always. As a young adult, Thelma was married to Leamon Collier Jr. for 5 years in which they shared a son, Leamon “Skippy” Jeffrey Collier III. Later “Momma T” met George Edmondson and had a beautiful daughter, Holli Suzann Collier. From Holli, she was blessed with three grandchildren, Jazmine Edwards, Morgan Collier, and Meagan Turner. Thelma is survived by her son Skip, daughter Holli, two grandchildren Meagan and Morgan, Uncle James and Aunt Dot Davis.
