Obituary Via the Family of Shirley Vincent
Our mother, Shirley Claire (Fisher) Vincent peacefully passed away on May 28, 2020 at her home in Sebring, Florida. Mom was born on January 16, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John Frank and Helen (Grimmelsmann) Fisher. She was the third daughter of seven daughters that survived to adulthood. Mom met John Porter Vincent, Jr. on the first day of high school and three years after graduation Mom and Dad were married on February 3, 1951. Their marriage lasted 32 years until Dad passed away on September 8th, 1983. She would say she was going to smack him when she arrives in heaven because he left her here too long.
From that marriage were born five children, who survive her: Linda (Eldon) Auger, South Jordan, Utah. John P. (Maria) Vincent III, Sebring, Florida. Jerry (Melissa) Vincent, Fairfield, Ohio. Jay (Sharon) Vincent, Cincinnati, Ohio and Sharon (Brad) Huff, Independence, Kentucky. Mom loved and was proud of her children and her daughters in law and sons in law. Mom adored her 9 grandchildren and their spouses: Jeremy (Des) Vincent, Megan (Nick) Gattermeyer, Joseph (Anneliese) Vincent, Tyler (Jessica) Vincent, Jayson Vincent, Jacob (Kayla) Vincent, Erin (Terrell) Marshall, Kelsey (Jake) Panek and Emma Huff. Mom had commented that she thought her grandchildren were smarter than their parents. Mom was so thrilled to have 11 great grandchildren: Jordan, Jayden, Emma, Jace, Crosley, Finlay, Baylor, Kaydenn, Kayleigh, TJ, and Kylan plus 2 more babies coming in November making 13 great grandchildren. Mom is also survived by four younger sisters: Marlene (Charles, deceased) Lintz, Francis (Pete, deceased) Wallace, Joyce (Ed) Smith and Diane (Mike) Smith. Her two older sisters Helen Bayersdorfer and Ruth Hill preceded her in death.
We, her children, wish to thank all those that cared for our Mom, the doctors, nurses and hospice staff. We give thanks to friends and family who loved her and prayed for her daily. Your kindness will always be close to our hearts. Instead of flowers, Mom would appreciate it if you would donate to the American Heart Association or a Veteran’s Organization in her name, two organizations that were close to her heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 12th, 2020, at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, where her ashes will be buried next to our Dad on the 37th anniversary of the date that our Dad was laid to rest. (September 12th 1983).
