Shelbert Brian Harris
Mr. Shelbert “Brian” Harris, age 78, passed away on August 14, 2021.
Brian was born on November 1, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to Wilbur and Genevieve Harris. As a child he attended Public School 17 and served as an acolyte at his family church, St. Philips Episcopal Church. After graduating from Bennett High school, Brian served in the United States Air Force. After returning to Buffalo from military service, Brian worked in law enforcement and as a Disc Jockey personality for a local FM radio station. Brian had a great sense of humor as well as a love for music, sports, family, and friends.
After moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, Brian continued his law enforcement career serving the Hamilton County community as a Lieutenant Executive Officer at the Hamilton County Sheriffs’ department for over 20 years. Brian was also known as the neighborhood dad, spending countless hours shepherding neighborhood kids to sporting events, mentoring his son and his friends. Papa, as he was known by his grandchildren also enjoyed attending their sporting events and extra-curricular activities.
Brian is survived by his children; Brian (Kori) Harris and Sonya (Howard) Brackett, grandchildren; Isabella, Shyenne, Kyrie, Howie, and Holly (John) Lawal, great grandchildren; Tyree, Genesis, Charlotte, siblings; Ann Faith Harris and Michael Harris, close friend; Cheryl Harris, and many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Sheila and Walter.
Per Brian’s wishes, services will be private with a celebration of life being held later.
