Sharon Irene Ackermann
Sharon Irene Ackermann, loving mother of Eleanor and Lydia, passed away peacefully February 28, 2021. She was born February 25, 1952 in Cincinnati Ohio, to the late Donald and Mildred Ackermann. Besides her daughters, she leaves behind several relatives, friends and her beloved dogs.
Sharon was in the education field for 30+ years. She began her career teaching hearing impaired students and then proceeded to get her master’s in special education. For many years Sharon worked in the Oak Hills School District as a teacher and advocate for students. Her first position was at Bridgetown Middle School as an intervention specialist. There she taught many students with learning disabilities. Then she moved to central office where she became the supervisor for special needs preschool instructors. From there she returned to the classroom and taught special needs students at Rapid Run Middle School. To end her career, she traveled to the elementary schools teaching English as a second language.
She dedicated her life to improving the well-being of every child she encountered. During her retirement she enjoyed many hobbies such as scrapbooking, quilting and reading. Sharon was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters Eleanor and Lydia, who she loved very much as they loved her.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 5 at the Arlington Memorial Garden Funeral Home (upon entering the cemetery, follow the blue line) Visitation will be at 10:00, followed by the service at 11:00 and burial at 12:00. Masks are required.
