Marietta Nelson
Nelson, Marietta (affectionately known as “Boots”), age 88, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2020. Beloved wife of 35 years to the late Jimmie Malcolm Nelson. Loving mother to Thomas Alan and Joseph Russell Nelson. Beloved grandmother to Kaitlan Marietta and Cori Alexandra; adoring great grandmother to Alaia Jai. Loving sister to Reverend John Franklin Douglas Jr. Dear sister-in-law and friend to Cheri Douglas. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin Douglas Sr, and Ruth Haynes Douglas, as well as eight siblings: Elmore Floyd, Thelma Margaret, Henry Luther, Helen Christine, Joseph Walter, Samuel David, Hattie Louise, and Betty June.
Marietta was born and raised in LaFollette, Tennessee. She was a graduate of LaFollette High School where she played basketball, and sang in Glee Club. She moved to Cincinnati Ohio in the late 1950’s where she taught Sunday school and sang in her church choir. She was later a member of Praise Chapel Church of God for 23 years, where she ministered as head of the prayer chain. She gave unconditional love and will be forever cherished by a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Praise Chapel Church of God, 5611 Colerain Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45239.
