Mary “Jinny” Virginia Roll

March 29, 1929 – October 12, 2019

Mary Virginia “Jinny” Roll (nee Berter), age 90, passed away peacefully with family by her side on 10/12/2019.  Jinny was the loving wife to the late Bernard “Bud” Roll for 65 years.  Sister of Don (late JoAnn), Dave (Karen), and Neal Berter and the late Dick (Nancy), Bobby (Jennie), Tom (Iva), Jerry, and infants William and John Berter.  Sister-in-Law of Norb (late Barb) Roll, Margie (Jacque) Cooper, Tom (Sharon) Roll, Ginny (Denny) Moorehous, and the late Eddie (Peggy) Roll, and Vi (Carl) Ries.

Devoted mother to Debi (Ken) Miller, Gregg (Wanda) Roll, Cindy (Daryl) Peacock, and Laurie (Dave) Louis.  Cherished grandmother of Mindy (Shane) Burke, Evan (Cayaurima) Miller, Mike (Angie) Miller, Lauren and Olivia Roll, Sean (Kim) and Kelsey Peacock, Tyler Cox, Nikki (Enye) and Zach Louis.  Great grandmother of Genevieve and John Burke, Antonieta, Lorenzo, Pierce and Eva Miller, Kalynn and Harli Peacock, William, Marcus and Brianna Hawkins, Ethan Ferguson, Ezekial Willingham and angels Alex and Luke Ferguson.

Jinny was born May 29, 1929 to Thomas and Genevieve (nee Moore) Berter.  She spent her early years in St. Bernard graduating from Our Lady of Angels High School in 1947.  Jinny and Bud were high school sweethearts and married August 18, 1951 at St. Clement Church in St. Bernard.  Jinny was employed at Autolight before becoming a devoted homemaker and spent many years watching her grandchildren, volunteering at St. Ann’s Church, and traveling with friends.  Jinny will always be remembered for being caring and thoughtful, her love of family and devotion to her faith.

Visitation will take place at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. on Thursday (Oct 17) from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am.
