James Sturgill
Mr. James Sturgill, age 86, passed peacefully away on October 14, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on his father’s birthday, March 13 in 1935 in East Bernstadt, KY to James and Cora Sturgill. A proud United States Marine who served in the Korean War, Jim enjoyed his family more than anything. He worked for Emery Industries for 34 years, retiring in 1990 to spend more time with his children. He never stopped learning having read over 3500 books and attending college classes into his 70s. He instilled a thirst for knowledge in his children and ensured they received the finest education. His pride only grew with the birth of his grandsons and he continued to impart wisdom to them until the end. Jim truly left quite a legacy by his amazing life.
James is survived by his loving spouse of 35 years, Rosemarie Lampsat Sturgill, children, James (Erin) Sturgill and Nicole (Paul) DeYoung, grandchildren, Benjamin Ignatowski and James Sturgill XIII, brothers, Ernest (Sharon) Sturgill, George (Bonnie) Sturgill and many extended relatives and friends. Jim’s footprints continue to guide the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elisha “Ron” Sturgill and his cousins Robert & Andrew Sturgill.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 23rd of October, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM when graveside services will begin, at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231. Burial will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Online condolences can be left at www.AMGFuneralHome.com.

As I already mentioned to you when we briefly connected a couple days ago, I have fond memories of him driving us around Northern Kentucky for various after-school activities. He always seemed to greatly enjoy being a dad and a friend to his kids’ friends. Long after we graduated high school, your Dad was always warm and welcoming whenever I would come over to his house to catch up with you when we were both in town. Your family and you are in my family’s thoughts and prayers.
