Herschel Louis Ooten Sr.

Herschel Louis Ooten Sr., 92, died peacefully surrounded by family on February 25, 2021.

He is survived by the love of his life of 72 years, Shirley Ruth Ooten (Peppers). They created a life together in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together they raised 5 children: Herschel Ooten Jr., Nancy Oppenheimer, Karen Sutton, Janice Ooten, and Margie Skinner. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Herschel worked hard and retired after 34 years, as an accomplished toolmaker, at Ford Motor Company. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He was a hard worker all of his life; he started working right when he fell out of the womb. He was very generous with his time and money.

Herschel proudly served his country in WWII and the Chinese Civil War as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi!

All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.  We ask that all wear face masks and practice social distance.

The visitation will take place March 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Gardens, with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m.  Afterwards, the burial will take place.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, aides and nurses that helped with his care, especially Marcy, who was a blessing at the end of his life.
