Edward “Joe” Gaherty, age 86, passed away on April 29, 2021.

Edward Joseph was born on October 19, 1934 in Augusta, KY to Edward and Hope Gaherty.  Edward married Ruth Adams in 1958.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Ruth Gaherty, devoted son Shawn Joseph and cherished grandchildren Ryan Joseph (Krystle) and Kelly Jean also survived by many friends and relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his son Steven John.

Joe served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as an EOD specialist. After serving in the U.S Air Force he became a communications manager at Cincinnati Bell for many years, retiring in 1990. Joe was a very devoted grandfather to his grandchildren Ryan and Kelly.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday May 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (Follow the blue line once on cemetery property). Services for Edward “Joe” Gaherty will be held at 12:00 PM following the visitation (facial coverings and social distancing encouraged)

    Ruth – I am sorry to have missed the funeral, etc. I can’t believe he’s no longer here. He’s now up in heaven with Steve & Sam. I sincerely hope that you & he are both in peace. I DO understand what it’s like to loose a husband and I certainly wouldn’t wish it on anybody. If you need anything, anytime, I a merely a hill away.

    I will miss you Joe. We only saw each other briefly each year at the Mariner but appreciated your company and very funny understated sense of humour. A sad day.
