Donald Peter Sturm much loved husband to Bebe Madaline Helen (Gross) Sturm, was married on May 23, 1959. Two sons, Tom (Judy) Sturm and Pete Sturm are deeply grateful to and will deeply miss them both. The family expresses our deep appreciation to all who loved this special man of God. Don was born on October 4, 1938, as the first generation American of German immigrants Peter and Frieda (Zerbes) Sturm, and went home to be with the Lord peacefully on March 18, 2021 at the age of 82. He was a member of the Bridgetown Church of Christ for over 50 years, and an engineering graduate of UC. Don loved Jesus, fast cars, all things mechanical, and was passionately and purposefully involved with his family, missions, church and lifetime career in aviation.
An inventor and holder of several patents, Don enjoyed more than 30 years with General Electric as an engineer, contributing quality control to countless engines and design work with the Minuteman rocket division. He was a tank driver in his 20s with the Army reserves and was honorably discharged as a proud veteran and defender of our country.
Don is survived by his two sons Pete and Tom; loving grandchildren Shannon, Elysia, Corissa and Breanna Sturm, James Honchell, Laura (Will) Bickers, Julianne (Drew) Bischoff, and Marcus (Hanna) Re; great grandchildren Kylie Bickers, Eli Bischoff, and Vinny and Gino Re; step-sister Jan (Kerstetter) Grossman and her children and grandchildren, and three nieces by his late sister Helen Ann (Sturm) and the late Bob Schumacher – Linda (Geoff) Davis and their children Julie (Kris) Casebolt and Andy (Aubree) Davis as well as their children; Karen (Mike) Hoffman and their children, and Jenny Jo (Dave) Tackett and their daughter, and two nephews by his late twin sister Donna (Sturm) Hutchinson – Steve (Jane) Hutchinson and Jim (Amy) Hutchinson and their children; brother-in-law, Bill (the late Karen) Gross III and their children, Bill (Brenda) Gross IV and Danny (Dawn) Gross and their children; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Don) Thie and their children, Don (Susan) Thie Jr. and Cindy (Jim) Glaros and their children; Cousins-in-law Marv and Peggy (Fasold) Sheets and Walt and Pam Fasold and their children and grandchildren; as well as cousins and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends. Don and Bebe also loved far and widely beyond their immediate family and had sponsored several refugee families including Andy Ge (May) Xiong and their children.
Don’s Visitation will be held at Bridgetown Church of Christ, 3854 Race Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45211 on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 10 -11:30 AM; the Funeral Service will immediately follow at church on Wednesday at 11.30 AM with lunch at the church afterward. Burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Bridgetown Church of Christ or Burma Christian Evangelism, for which Don and Bebe had served as forwarding agents. Memorials to either ministry may be mailed to the church address.
