Bernadine M. Humason
Bernadine Marie (Meyer) Humason, 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Maple Knoll Village, Springdale, Ohio.
Bernie was born on the family farm in Bay, Missouri, on March 7, 1931. She was the daughter of Karl “Charles” and Clara (Schneider) Meyer. She was the widow of James C. “Jim” Humason, who preceded her in death on December 28, 2003. They were united in marriage on April 16, 1955, in Bay, Missouri. They moved to the Cincinnati, Ohio suburb of Finneytown just a few years later and she lived and raised a family there for more than 50 years. They enjoyed traveling together and with friends for many years, having adventures on boats and even motorcycles.
She graduated from Owensville (MO) High School in 1949 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri University in 1953. While she never pursued a teaching career, she instilled a lifelong love for learning and reading in her children that is now apparent in all her descendants.
Bernie was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, participating in Women’s Circles, Bible studies, rummage sales, and many other ministries and activities. She also volunteered at the Cottonwood Elementary School library.
Bernie is survived by a sister, Geneva Brink, of Hermann MO, four children, John Humason (Johanna), of Hermann, MO, Tammy Becker (Joe) of Charlotte, NC, Richard Humason (Linda) of Cincinnati, OH, and Robert Humason (Patty) of Cincinnati, OH, nine grandchildren, Brian Becker, Deena Faust (Ben), Mark Becker, Christy Crisologo (Andrew), Scott Humason (Maggie), Lisa Humason, Jack Humason, Case Humason, and William Humason, nine great-grandchildren and a beloved niece, Mary Kunstmann (Ken).
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 10:00 am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, Ohio. Service is at 11:00 am at Northminster, with interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mt. Healthy, Ohio
