On June 27, 2021 Barbara (Waples) Blair, a lovely lady with a welcoming smile and the gift to gab, passed away at her home in Liberty, Indiana. She was born on June 10, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to Joseph and Alice (nee Jenkins) Waples. Barbara was a social butterfly that was meant to be a receptionist at Carew Tower in Cincinnati. She knew everyone and if you went to lunch with her she would stop to give acquaintances hugs. Before working at the Carew Tower, she ran a daycare in her home taking care of numerous children for many years. Barbara loved and lived for her grandchildren. Her special times of going out to eat with them or having overnights were memorable. However, the song “Your my special Angel” was always sung to her grandchildren. Barbara in recent years developed Alzheimer’s, which she might not have remembered who you were, but you ALWAYS received a hug and a big smile.
Those that will be missing her special hugs are her children: Jodi Hensley, Jenny (Ron) Jones, and Nancy (Josh) Mead; her grandchildren that referred to her as “Gran”: Brittany (David) Page, Jacob & Bailey Speckert, Eric Jones, Brittney (Christopher “C.J.”) Haney, Avery, Brenden, Cooper, Reagen, & Izzy Jones, Sara & Cameron (Caitlyn) Varin, Hailey and Parker Mead; cherished great grandchildren: Mila & Milo Haney, Noah & Liam Varin. Barbara is also survived by her wonderful siblings: Robert Waples, William “Bill” (Mary) Waples, Jim (Debbie) Waples, and Nancy Condon.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Alice (nee Jenkins) Waples; brother and sister-in-law: Harry and Darlene Waples.
Visitation will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030 on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 11 until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Pastor from Church on Fire, Doug Combs will be presiding. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
